Dieudonné Cédor.

Born in Anse-à-Veau Haiti on March 8, 1925 - He died in September 27, 2010.

After studying at Beaubrun Ardouin College, Dieudonné Cédor became a cabinetmaker, but seemed more interested in art. He entered the Port-au-Prince Art Center in December 1947 and worked under the supervision of Rigaud Benoit, who taught him the elementary principles of art.

In 1950, following a disagreement, a group of artists led by René Exumé, Lucien Price, Max Pinchinat and Dieudonné Cédor left the Center d’Art to found the Foyer des Arts Plastiques. In 1956, in the company of artists such as Luckner Lazard and Roland Dorcely, he founded the Galerie Brochette, where he remained until 1962. In 1957, he was appointed director of the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Port-au-Prince. He resigns just 24 hours after accepting the job. From 1969 to 1976, he worked at the Galerie Nader in Port-au-Prince.

Dieudonné Cédor’s paintings have been exhibited in many countries, including Guatemala (1951), Mexico (1952), Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands (1968), the United States (1969), Venezuela, Colombia, and Panama. There was a permanent exhibition of his work at the Museum of Haitian Art at Saint-Pierre College, in Port-au-Prince.
